What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby? Meeting and befriending the LAS crowd.
What do you enjoy most about the hobby? The Tau are my first army so getting off a good volley of Pulse fire is always very satisfying. The game is the most fun for me, closely followed by collecting an army. I find painting to be a pain. I know it needs done so you can personalise your army but it does feel like a bit of a chore sometimes.
What do you enjoy most about the club? I like that we all get on. There’s never really any major upsets or arguments. And the games are always conducted in a very gentlemanly fashion. It means you always look forward to getting down to the club and having a good battle. In fact considering the club was formed out of the love for grimdark, we really quite a friendly crowd. Not very grimdark at all .
If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be? The Simon Slayer? Orcs Bane? Eldar Eradicator? If I had a trademark it’d probably be my deepstriking shenanigans? So how about The Deepstriker? Or Striker? Or Deadeye (cause of my precision landings)? I guess basically I don’t know (or don’t want to know?) what my club nickname is or should be.
Who is top of your grudge list? Anybody who plays Eldar.
If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why? I play Necrons and Tau. What are psychic powers?
How do you feel about Tau? Tau are the true inheritors of galaxy. The other races have had their chance and squandered it on naught but death and destruction. The Tau Empire will rise out of the ashes of the old races and bring peace and unity. For the Greater Good!
What is your favourite game mechanic and why? Maelstrom without doubt. With the Maelstrom missions GW achieved something I think they’d been trying for at least a decade. They made 40k battles games of actual strategy where players have to think and adapt their playstyles to win. Rather than just taking a beat stick to knock your opponent of the board you now have to think about whether you need to hold an objective or charge into assault. You’ve obviously still got the option to take the beat stick if that’s how you enjoy playing but maelstrom gives you the option to open the game up a bit. You can take a beating and still win the game.
If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do? Declare the Tau the true inheritors of the galaxy. That and give the Kroot rifle +1 melee attack like it used to have.
