![]() I have been waiting for ages for this new book so decided to a review to help learn it myself and also give my opinions on why people’s opinions are dumb! I'm been a fan of BOLS which has given me lots of good rumour information however the comments on that website drive me mad (It's my own fault - it's the same as when I look at Daily Mail articles just to get angry and wound up by the comments!) (For the offending BOLS article - http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2014/06/ork-codex-initial-impressions.html) Click Read more to ... urm read more! ![]() As some of you may be aware, I work part-time at my FLGS Tabletop Tyrants, where I work on producing the foam tay inserts for their range of miniature carrying cases. Well this week they have released the newest of their range – the Squire case – and I was lucky enough to get one on release. Now previously all my infantry minis have been stored in my ancient KR cardboard cases with cardboard trays. The standard load for the new Squire is four infantry trays with two of the cover sheets, which is what I have plumped for. As with all of Tyrants own cases you can use their website to customise your choice of trays to what you need. The front piece of the case unclips easily to allow easy access to the trays, and with the four infantry ones I’ll have storage room for 144 of my chaos marines. While my KR case can hold a possible 147 it’s not as water-resistant as the plastic Squire, which is reminiscent of the document/lp cases for those of us old enough to remember when music came on vinyl discs. As you can see the other down side of the cardboard tray was where mini’s might have extended parts (particularly heavy weapons or swords) so I had to cut into the intervening partition to allow them to fit, where as with the foam its a little more flexible and gives to allow the larger parts. All in all I’d say the Squire is a good entry-level case, ideal for transporting and storing your plastic models. I probably wont use it to transport vehicles as most of mine will require at least 60mm (though most likely 100mm) pick n pluck trays due to their size. I have since been informed that the case was tested with a weight of 3.3 kg without any issues and that the handle can take up to 10kg, so there should be no problems with carrying metal mini's at all. Because our tournament games have either been played already or postponed, we decided to play the first game of our campaign. Here is brief background to the battle:
Surrounded and besieged, the second largest delver stronghold is almost completely overrun by a surprise attack from the Black Legion led by the Biker Lord Morrow. A handful of Dark Angel Tactical Marines have held out against all the odds. Every attack has been met with grim tenacity and stubborn determination, every advance halted with a hail of fire and every assault repulsed from the walls. The defenders have proved an unmovable thorn in the attacking general’s side, surviving for weeks longer than anyone could have expected, but the brave garrison cannot fight on much longer. The enemy has amassed for their final push, but the defender’s reinforcements have been delayed and are still some distance out. Until then, the last survivors of the garrison are on their own – they must hold the line against overwhelming numbers until help can finally arrive. |
