Where did you start with the hobby?
I started way back when I was very young with Adeptus Titanicus, 6 robots with giant guns trashing the hell out of each other! From there I started space marine and then the boxed games. Space crusade, Space Hulk, then finally 40k proper!

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?
My biggest highlight so far I think is the game I had vs Edd's guard, all genestealers vs all guard troops only it was like a little bit of the background come to life!

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
I've always enjoyed the modelling, converting and painting, I always remember getting the plans for tanks in white dwarf magazine and trying to build them! I'm not the greatest at it by a long way but I enjoy what I do.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?
If I could date a Chaos God I'd choose.....Khorne and Slaanesh. Figured if I'm man enough to date a god I may as well go for 2!

What do you enjoy most about the club?
I enjoy most about the club is the people it's great to have a bunch of people all who want to play the same game mostly the same way.

If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?
Club nickname... A tricky one but probably something like The Tinker.

Who is top of your grudge list?

Not sure I've a grudge list yet but I think Jack Shenton and Austin Barrett should be on it! Austin was my first opponent from the All Scars, and Jack I've faced in the tournament last year, the campaign and he's my first game in this year’s tournament!

If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why?

Summoning daemons! Who wouldn't want to summon their own army!

How do you feel about Tau?
Tau, I've never played against them.

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?

I like the sound of the new flyer phase but I've not played it yet.

If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?
If I were Emperor, I’d probably go start the crusade again!

What is it like to be an All Scar?
Being an All Scar is a good laugh, there's no pressure to play the game particular way, and the campaigns are great fun!

Where did you start the hobby?
My hobby life started in year 7 of a new school. I went around a new friends house and he had a bunch of eldar. He introduced me to 40k and games workshop. He even let me paint one of his war walkers. Didn't take long to get hooked! The same friend also lent me FF7. I owe a lot to this man.

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?
My biggest highlight has probably being awarded the most sporting award by the fellow All Scars. A close second would be winning a 'most feared commander' event at a gw store, back in my early gaming days with my first army (Eldar).

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
My favourite part of the hobby is the friendships you can make with people you possibly never would through the shared love of tabletop wargaming. I've met a lot of great guys through the All Scars. A lot of different personalities, views and backgrounds. People fascinate me.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?
Slaneesh because I'm a sexual deviant.

What do you enjoy most about the club?
The members and the banter. Our gaming days are fantastic.

If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?

Ozzy B. I've had many many nicknames over the years but I've personally pushed this one over the last few years.

Who is top of your grudge list?

Edd quick is easily the top of my grudge list. This man is an excellent opponent and all round great guy. I've lost count of the number of defeats I suffered at his hands.

If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why?
If I had any psychic power it would be invisibility. Oh the things I would do!

How do you feel about Tau?
Tau are the greatest thing to grace gods green earth.

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?
JINK! It wins me games.

If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?

Learn who Alpharius and Omegon are.

What is it like to be an All Scar?

WOOOOOOOOOOO!

 * Where did you start with the hobby?
Many years ago in a little place called Purbrook, I meet my sister's friend's older brother, and he introduced me to White Dwarf, and through it, Games Workshop. He showed me Necromunda, amd I was instantly hooked.

I graduated to 40k in Middle School - the days of vehicle cards and the Dark Millennium box set.

But when I got to Uni, and connected with Leicester Games Society, now the Leicester Sabres, that it got out of hand. Magic the Gathering, 40k, Fantasy, Necromunda, Quest....

After Uni came Hordes, WoW TCG, Infinity... Many pies have I had fingers in ;-)

But it was an old White Dwarf showing Goliaths vs Orlocks that's to blame for everything that followed

 * What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?
It's a collective of three moments in sequence, though they are a touch bitter sweet these days.

The first was earning an application form for a retail job at Games Workshop.

I spent a fair few hours in there build and playing, even helping out with store games when the staff were overrun. Once made a huge Inquisitorial hatch for the front door for the relase of 7th Ed 40k!

I was helping a beleaguered mother to decipher her son's wish list one day, and ahe was so relieved when I helped her out, and how I did it I guess.

She went to the till with presents in hand, and next thing I know a staff member bats me round the head with an application form from the manage and says they all think I should apply.

The second came only 4 weeks into my employment at GW. It's just me in store all day, and the bloody area manager comes in! I wanted to chat with him but it's was proving busy so was had to excuse myself so focus on helping customers.

He eventually said he'd head off as I am obviously busy and I was sure I'd buggered up somehow.

In fact it turned out he was so impressed, that not only did he commend me to my manager, but I was named directly at a big retail meeting as an example to everyone of how retail staff should be working, and how after just 4 weeks I was already exemplary and putting staff of many years experience to shame!

The last moment was when I earned a place on the then dubbed "Squad Leader" management course. I knew there were new ine man stores coming and was a strong candidate for one...

But as I said at the start, those moments are rather bitter sweet now...

 * What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
Building, especially converting. Any one that knows me knows my passion for crafting something unique. Im no use with green stuff beyond gap filling, but I can kit bash like a pro. Not Ork Mad Mek style (no offence meant lads ;-) ) but, say, turning a Defiler and Storm Talon into a custom Imperial Knight - my greatest ever work in my eyes. Mech related stuff in general is where I'm best.

It helps that I am so good at Del Boying for parts - I am a scavenger and proud - Rei has nothing in me :-)

 * If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?
Well, Nurgle simply doesn't make enough effort, so hes a no.
And Khorne will ruin the evening by complaining at the smallest issue, which will ruin the mood.

Tzeentch is out of the running as you'll never know if your talking with the true them or some façade.

Now Slaanesh - you can tell them anything and they will listen, and anything you divulge in confidence will remain in confidence - that loyalty and discretion is a great quality.

As for the Great Horned Rat... Its a rat. That's all I got - its a rat - reason enough to swipe no.

So Slaanesh.

And not cause boobs...

 * What do you enjoy most about the club?
We are all playing games, so there is an unavoidable competitive aspect, but the group don't make it the sole focus of the event. Victory and defeat are not merely outcomes but chances for banter, ongoing in jokes, good humoured grudges and sharing takes of daring do and crazy moments.
Its the experience we all want, and what ever happens we ensure we all walk away at the end having had a positive experience, with a smile, a tale or two and itching for the next session.

That same group spirit permeates our painting (Survivor Series), our event planning (the people wanted Necromunda and 30k, so we are planning events to sate those hungers)

And that mentality sees us go from strength to strength.

  * If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?
Like anyone gets to pick their nickname... Alas they are always seemingly earned when you least want them...

I can imagine a few I could get lumbered with - Del Boy might be one for my scavenging for parts all the time.

Wouldn't mind Fen - short for Fenriryan - long story, but it's wolf related.

 * Who is top of your grudge list?
Tough call - I have few but they are all equal...

Austin Barrett and I have an unresolved Tau vs Dark Eldar feud (I'm sure I was two games up)

Mik Calow and his witching ways - he owes my Riptide a wound! He knows what I speak off...

Lee Oswin in Dreadball - he and exploding duce are a dangerous combo that's has frequently infuriated and annihilated me in equal measure.

 * If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why?

Whats this psychic malarkey all about? We of the Tau Empire have no need for such shenanigans. :-p

 * How do you feel about Tau?
For the Greater Good!

 * What is your favourite game mechanic and why?
Infinity's "Automatic Reactive Order" system wins out.
The ability to react to what your opponent is doing in real time is a huge thing, and provides all manner of new possibilities and exciting cinematic moments.

We have had things like break test and charge reactions, but it's rigid and focused on just those units directly involved in the action at hand.

But having any model with eyes on what's happening able to get involved makes the game deeper and morw cinematic, and allows more interesting takes on common concepts like stealth systems.

Means lesa dead time between turns also as the You Go I Go sequence is no longer as rigid.

That game is awash with great mechanics in all honesty, but the ARO system the true stand out.

 * If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?
Die and let the plot move on ;-)

 * What is it like to be an All Scar?
I think I shot my load for this one earlier :-)

It's a great group of various rogues, whippersnappers and grumps that pull together to ensure we make the most of our hobby.

We support, ridicule, assist, encourage and tease in just the right ratio that blood is yet to be spilt...

Yet...

CALOW!!!!!

Where did you start with the hobby?
Somewhere between 2nd Ed 40k and heroquest, didn't really get 40k at that point. Got back in at 3rd edition made more sense, drifted away for a while then back in at 6th and been solid since then

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?
Getting to the point where I've got a reasonably well painted army that I can field without shame, my wolves, reached this point sometime last year.

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
Playing with like minded individuals who don't always take it too seriously and can just have a laugh with it. Plus it's safer for my marriage than booze and hookers.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?
Tzeentch, every date would be different lol

What do you enjoy most about the club?
A group of like minded individuals who're great to have a light with while playing some games

If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?

Tim the fluffy? I have no idea to honest. I do: Tim the giraffe. Look it wasn't my idea it was one of his Facebook profile pictures.

Who is top of your grudge list?
Gary's necrons, not beaten them yet but getting closer.

If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why?
Prescience save so much hassle by seeing what's coming and getting myself out of it lol Or the new geomanvy power, Mohammed isn't going to the mountain I'm bringing the mountain to mohammed.

How do you feel about Tau?
Look awesome but play like assholes, if you're that guy who brings 3 ruptures then I can't stand you lol if not then we're all in it for the greater good.

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?

Assault, and the power of blood claws and a wolf priest, so many dice with rerolls on 1s

If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?
Eradicate the dark Angels, they still don't know whose side they're on

What is it like to be an All Scar?

Great to have such a good network of awesome folks so close to home, highly recommended

Where did you start with the hobby?
I used to go into GW shop in Leicester to get mini's for my D&D games, then picked up the Rogue Trader book along with a box each of marines and orks. This would have been early 90's.

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?
40K-wise probably my heldrake conversion. If I include my other gaming, then DMing at European Gen Con for 2 years and having my boxed set signed by Troy Denning (one of the writers).

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
Being an RPG'er at heart it has to be the campaigns we organise and run, and its great to see how much everyone gets involved not only on game days but the away from table stuff too.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?

Tzeentch, every time would be like a whole new first time.

What do you enjoy most about the club?
The diversity, not only of armies but the gaming systems and people.

If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?
I think most would refer to me as "the soulblaze nutter" or some such.

Who is top of your grudge list?
Well my track record at the club hasn't been brilliant, since returning to the 41st millenium I have only beaten a small handful of opponents. A couple of my more memorable defeats were at the hands of Gary and Jon (both of which I have failed to defeat as yet).

If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why?
Iron Arm (ha, you all thought I'd choose something with soulblaze didn't you!).

How do you feel about Tau?
Ugh, never faced them until we began the club, never defeated them since. Mik is lying! He beat them twice in our Doubles Tournament, finishing 2nd!

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?
Ok, this time I have to admit it, SOULBALZE. It's not mega effective but its full of shits & giggles.

If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?
Disband the Astartes and turn the Imperium over to the forces of Abaddon's Black Legion.

What is it like to be an All Scar?
Fun. What could be better than getting to spend hours of entertaining fun with like-minded and likeable fellow gamers.

Where did you start with the hobby?
I started just over 2 years ago whe
n I went round a friends and saw all these cool blue dudes in a case which I asked about. He said they were from Warhammer, which I didn't know he was into and I knew nothing about. He had a few chaos guys spare and it kinda snowballed into what I got now.

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?

Biggest highlight so far was when I actually took the time to paint a model and enter it into a little competition that I won (until I win top rookie in this year’s tourney lol).

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
Probably the building and converting is most fun for me.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?
But all the gods are dudes?

What do you enjoy most about the club?
I enjoy the atmosphere of the club.  Everyone I've met and spoke to so far has been great (yes even Simon) and people seem to have an interest in each other’s projects and help if they can - Big thanks to Mik, Mark and Matt here from me.

If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?
Nickname? Not sure on this one hmmm, tries hard but fails?

Who is top of your grudge list?
Top grudge is everyone who has beat me - so everyone basically!

If you had any pyschic power from the rulebook or codices , which one would you choose and why?
Possesion so I can be a Bloodthirster!

How do you feel about Tau?

Tau? FUCK TAU!

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?

Game mechanic would be the tactical objectives as they add an extra dimension to the game and are always different.

If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?
As Emperor I would order all my minions to forego their  oaths of purity and embrace the glory of the Chaos Gods as it is there inevitable end.

What is it like to be an All Scar?
So far it’s been good for me as an All Scar. I have met loads of good people and had more fun playing as well

Where did you start with the hobby?
I started when I was 8 years old when I saw some friends with some orks and Space marines, it always comes down to them of course! So then I popped to my local GW and saw what it was all about. I saw there were space wolves who were space Vikings in armour and they looked waaay out there! Had to them and BOOM never looked back since.

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?

I've had a few highlights thankfully but the biggest for me has to be winning best painted miniature at a special Warhammer World event where it was Leicester Vs Nottingham, while Notts won by a couple of points I took best painted back for us! So pretty I'm proud of that.

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?
I enjoy lots of different things about the hobby; reading the Lore, painting and gaming but more recently it's the building and converting.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?
Let's see- Khorne would have a violent tantrum all the way through, Nurgle would make me loose my appetite and I'm certainly not kissing that! Tzeench would keep changing topic and their mind. So Slannesh I guess, though what comes after might get weird!

What do you enjoy most about the club?

The people. It's a great social environment and the banter never gets tiring.

If you had a club nickname, what would it be?

Alpharius

Who is top of your grudge list?

I don't think I have any major grudges, but after last tournament game and previous games we have had I think it's Dave Clarke (I think he's looking for revenge!)

If you had any psychic power from the rulebook or codices, which one one would you choose and why?

There's a lot of psychic powers I love, but got to go with invisibility- all that dickery and you know slipping into places you maybe shouldn't.

How do you feel about Tau?

Tau, you mean the greater good!

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?
Assault, to me it's kind of the final decider. It's the great equaliser as well.

Make a fresh start on the primarchs thing- clean slate!

What is it like to be an All Scar?

It's to be part of a great bunch of crazy like minded gamers who love the hobby and get to be complete dicks to one another and laugh for hours about it.

Where did you start with the hobby?

Started playing when I was little. My brother initially had orks so I had the Space Marines. Some reason I opted for Imperial Fists. My now beloved Orks initially didn't appeal to me as the orks looked cartoonish. I actually went into WHFB after uni. A gaming group I was playing with at the time gifted me some 40k orks when they became badass. I played a demo game and as soon as I was explained mob rule and had 50+ dice to assault I had a new favourite game! Then I had to collect a Space Marine force since that is the law of 40K – I went for Salamanders (cos green is good!)

What is the biggest highlight in your time doing the hobby?

The narrative I have forged for my Warboss. ‘Doktor’ Ferotous Bluddietoof. His lore is taken from his feats within the game - such as his brilliant feats of combat such single handedly killing Bloodthirsters, or Wraithknights.

What do you enjoy most about the hobby?

Looking at the battlefield with two fully painted armies (ideally not Tau) as it brings the lore of 40K to life for me.

If you could date one of the Chaos gods, which one would you choose?

Nurgle. He is the only non-evil chaos gods!

What do you enjoy most about the club?

The campaign as it helps add more epic lore for my characters. Also you get a lot of flexibility – such as betraying my allies!

If you had a club nickname, what would you like it to be?

Not really, but Austin calls me the ‘Troll King’

Who is top of your grudge list?

Gary Walker. I have a lot of grudges, but Gary is the only bastard who I have a horrific record against!

If you had any psychic power from the rule book and codexs, which one would you choose and why?

I would want any power, but to roll a double 6 and then fail Perils of the Warp. Wizards suck. I would want to do a public service and kill myself.

How do you feel about Tau?

Tau are an faction who need to be fucked on a tridaily basis.

What is your favourite game mechanic and why?

Assault. Many, MANY dice grin emoticon

If you were God-Emperor of Mankind for the day, what would you do?

Allow myself to be converted into some ork tech.

What is it like to be an All Scar?

Good! I still try and attend events, even though I have moved away from Leicester. There is nothing like the group where I live.

With the success of last years Survivor Series painting challenge, we begin again this year. To make it a little easier we have decided to create a facebook group for each month as we go which I will try and add links to as and when they come up.

The usual rules apply:
  • Pledge a fieldable unit (or scenic element) for your game system of choice by the 8th of the month.
  • You have until the 15th of the month to change your pledge if you so wish (extenuating circumstances will be considered).
  • Models my be undercoated beforehand.
  • Paint the model/s and post completed picture on the group page.
