I won the Unnatural Disaster roll off resulting in the manifestation of a Psychic Conjunction which caused all non-vehicle, non-Psyker units have the Brotherhood of Psykers and Smite! This was clearly not the result we were looking for as our enemy now had an abundant amount of Level 1 Pyskers to counter the Daemon Psychic powers.
The Storm Eagle lost two hull points from the Tau Battlesuits, but managed to jinx all remaining fire. The Caliban Knight Errant had already deployed it's Ion Shield in order to protect it's side armour and would have took severe damage if it wasn't for the Contemptor intercepting a Tornado Landspeeder which was armed with a multi-melta and at half range. I did feel sorry for Ross who managed to wound his own Riptide twice but counted one of the wounds with Feel No Pain as he explained:
"Nova charging does not actually exist within the Tau Empire. It has been added to the the Codex by the forces of chaos in order to have unsuspecting Tau players kill their own Riptides."
Unlike our enemy Edd had chosen our strategic assets to work in conjunction with one another. The first enabled us to precision deep strike without the fear of scattering away from key targets. This asset worked well with our second asset a Warp Shield which protected Skarbrand, several Daemon Princes, a Bloodthirster and a squad of Fallen Deathwing Knights from being shot at in the next turn.
Despite the chagrin caused by the Psychic Conjunction, Edd kept a clear head and decided to forgo the Daemons opportunity to unleash their psychic potential as the Brotherhood of Pyskers rule gave the enemy a crazy amount of dice to Deny the Witch. It was a self afflicted disadvantage we could have done without, but what were the chances of rolling the same result again?
